New chair of energy regulator named

Michael Tutty is to be the new chairperson of the Commission for Energy Regulation (CER).

He replaces Tom Reeves, who has served since the regulator's office was set up four years ago.

Mr Tutty has served as a commissioner of the CER since 2004. Before that, he served as a vice president at the European Investment Bank and as second secretary general of the Department of Finance.

Energy Minister Eamon Ryan, who made the announcement, said the CER would face an 'extremely challenging work plan' over the coming years.
