The Construction Industry Federation says it is now highly unlikely that its members will ratify the national pay deal. This follows a meeting of construction employers with the federation this morning.
The CIF says the employers have now asked it to seek a review of the Registered Employers Agreement, which prevents construction employers from claiming an inability to pay. The agreement has been in place since the 1960s.
But the employers say they cannot sustain the agreement in the absence of the 12-month pay pause which they had sought in the national pay talks.
