Up to 100 workers at Honeywell Turbo Technologies in Waterford City are to lose their jobs.
The company told workers at its Waterford Turbo facility that it would start talks with its union representatives on a plan to reduce its workforce by between 85 and 100 employees by the end of this year. The company says this will initially be on a voluntary basis.
Honeywell makes engine boosting systems for passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
Meanwhile, there was better news from County Westmeath, as liquidators at the Iralco plant in Collinstown have found a buyer for the business. Iralco, which makes car parts, employs 420 workers. The liquidator was appointed in April.
