National Consumer Agency 'names and shames'

The National Consumer Agency has named and shamed 33 companies who have failed to comply with consumer legislation. Of these, seven were prosecuted and fined with respect to price display offences.

Five companies - Cecilia Stores Ltd, Tesco Ireland at Dundrum Shopping Centre, Thomas Welby Gala store, Power's Londis supermarket and a garage - Thomas Farrell & Sons - failed to display the prices of products.

The other two cases related to two licenced companies - McDonnells and Westar Hotels Ltd - who also failed to display price lists.

The National Consumer Agency says it intends to publish twice yearly a full list of companies who fail to comply with consumer legislation.
