Redmond O'Donoghue has been appointed as the new chairman of of Fáilte Ireland, the national tourism development authority. He replaces Gillian Bowler, whose five-year term of office has ended.

The Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, Martin Cullen, has also re-appointed four out-going board members for an additional term. The four members are Pádraig Ó Céidigh, Catherine Reilly, Eithne Scott-Lennon and Brian Hughes.

Mr O'Donoghue is the former CEO of the Waterford Wedgwood group and is still a member of the company's board. He is chairman of Good Food Ireland and is also a member of the Greencore board.
