Dairy weakening affecting Donegal

Shareholders in Donegal Creameries have heard that the group had a solid performance in the first half of this year, apart from its dairy business.

Managing director Ian Ireland told the AGM a significant weakening in prices of dairy products was having a 'substantial impact' on its profit margins.

But he said sales in the animal feeds and stores business had performed well, and the extended garden centre business was making a good contribution.

Mr Ireland also said the company was confident about the potential of its property assets despite the construction downturn.
