Lufthansa sticks to profit forecast

German airline Lufthansa has said it expects to meet its operating profit target this year despite rising fuel prices.

Lufthansa said earlier this year that it hoped to match the previous year's €1.38 billion and possibly improve on it.

The airline estimated that fuel costs for the full year would come to around €5.6 billion, but planned to offset that through efficiency gains, cost savings and fuel surcharges.

Lufthansa added that it remained confident that air traffic would carry on growing.
