The main banks are to be scrutinised on the credit squeeze by the Oireachtas Finance Committee.
The committee accepted a proposal from Fine Gael deputy finance spokesman Kieran O'Donnell, who claims the banks are imposing strict, and what he describes as 'unfair', credit restrictions.
The chief executives of the main banks will now be asked to attend a special meeting of the committee.
Meanwhile, Bank of Ireland has raised €1.25 billion through the issue of a two-year bond.
The bank said the issue was oversubscribed, and the bonds were sold to 85 investors across 21 countries.
A statement said the move 'adds to Bank of Ireland's strong funding position'.
