Bank of Ireland bosses see smaller pay packets

Bank of Ireland's CEO Brian Goggin saw his pay packet fall by 27% last year after the bank paid out lower bonuses to its top management.

According to the bank's annual report this evening, its chief executive was paid €2.97m in the year to March 31, down from €3.99m in 2007.

However, Goggin's 2007 pay was boosted by bonuses totaling €2.02m for reaching earnings targets and completing the bank's 'strategic transformation plan'.

The bank's Finance Director John O'Donovan saw his wages fall by 7.6% to €1.46m from €1.58m a year earlier.

Richard Burrows,  the Bank of Ireland's chairman, was paid €512,000, up 6%.
