Aer Arann May figures 10% ahead

Aer Arann has said it carried just 430,000 passengers in the first quarter of 2008, up 3% on a year earlier.

It also said its May passenger figure of 105,677 was 10% ahead of the same month last year.

Managing director Garry Cullen said the airline's underlying passenger results were strong, against a background of tough trading conditions throughout the aviation industry. It said higher fuel prices were affecting costs, while the weak sterling was lowering revenue from fares.
