A report on the world's hotel industry has shown that Dublin's ranking fell last year, but Belfast moved up as the city attracted more visitors.
Dublin's occupancy rate was 76.2%, down three points from 2006 and leading to a fall from 18th place to 37th. Belfast made its top 20 debut, coming in at 15th, according to the Deloitte Global Ranking Index.
Ranked by revenue per available room, Dublin fell nine places to 25th. Despite the fall, revenue per room was up 6.7% to €103, but Dublin was outpaced by growth in other destinations. Venice topped the revenue list for the fifth year in a row.
Deloitte's Mary Gara said Dublin's performance last year was consistent, particularly in the light of the boost received in 2006 from the Ryder Cup.
