The review of Diageo's brewing operations in Ireland, which includes the Guinness Brewery at St James's Gate in Dublin, is in its final stages and details are expected to be known by the end of this month.
A spokesperson for Diageo this morning said the review is taking into consideration all of Diageo's brewing operations in Ireland - at Dundalk, Kilkenny, Waterford and St James's Gate in Dublin city centre.
Last year the company said it was reviewing its Irish manufacturing businesses. This led to speculation that the brewing of Guinness could be moved from the historic St James's Gate site, and the site, or part of it, could be sold for property development.
This morning the company said the review is considering sustainability, investment and competitiveness. It said it is committed to finding the best business solution so it can continue to brew in Ireland.
