Irish pension funds staged a recovery in April according to consultants Hewitt Associates.
The Hewitt Managed Fund Index shows that the performance of Irish pension improved by 4.4% last month.
Commenting on the latest figures, Hewitt's Betty O’Reilly said: 'The rise in the index reflects a recovery in values on global equity markets.
'The FTSE World Equity Index was up over 7% in the month, while the Irish market rose by just under 3%.
'Nonetheless, markets have some further way to climb to recover the losses of the previous nine months.'
She also said that, despite recent falls, Irish pension managed funds have risen 6.5% per annum above inflation over the last 20 years.
