The chairman of Irish Nationwide has told members he would be 'astonished' if the business were sold in the current calendar year, and that it might not even be sold within two years.
Michael Walsh also told members that the rest of this year would be challenging in terms of performance.
But chief executive Michael Fingleton said he was keen to sell Nationwide at the earliest possible opportunity.
