The Financial Regulator has fined an mortgage and insurance broking company €10,000 and reprimanded it after some of the company's customers were overcharged.

The regulator said it believed OHC Insurances Ltd had failed to comply with some provisions of the Consumer Protection Code.

It said that in some cases, OHC had kept the difference between the cost of insurance policies initially quoted and the actual cost eventually charged. It had also failed to provide some customers with details of all charges, and failed to include an address and contact details in the terms of business.

The regulator has told OHC is to refund all affected customers with interest.
