Jaipur owner wins entrepreneur award

The owner of a chain of Indian restaurants in Dublin and Wicklow has been named the Permanent TSB Ethnic Entrepreneur of the Year.

Asheesh Dewan moved to Ireland from India in 1995. The 39-year-old runs the Jaipur chain of restaurants which employs around 90 people and has a turnover of almost €5m a year.

Mr Dewan is also a partner in the technology consultancy firm Segala, which is based in Sandyford in Dublin.

Other Award Winners:

Maria Angolo - Best Business Idea of the Year - Life Line Nursing Ltd which provides nursing care for hospitality and for private nursing homes.

Marco Giannantonio - Emerging Ethnic Entrepreneur of the Year - who established Flavour of Italy, with Maurizio Mastrangelo, to promote Italian cuisine in Ireland.

Yemi Ojo - Social Ethnic Entrepreneur of the Year - President and National coordinator of IACI Network (the Integration of African Children in Ireland).

Lord Diljit Rana, MBE - Special Judges Award - A resident of Belfast since 1966 and managing director of Andras House, Dr Rana has been involved with the overseas Indian community for many years. He promotes business links between India and Northern Ireland and has served as president of the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce.
