400 jobs are to be saved at IRALCO - the Co Westmeath company which has been under the threat of closure.
The jobs are to be saved for at least six months.
The company liquidator has told the unions that he intends to sell the company as a going concern, but all 400 workers are to return to work on Monday.
There was also relief at Gray's Factory in Hill of The Downs, near Raharney, on the border between Westmeath and Meath.
The factory, at which over 40 people were employed, was badly damaged in an overnight blaze, leading to concerns for the future of the workforce.
However, a spokesperson for Tony Gray Truck Bodybuilders said there will be no job losses arising from the fire and the company hopes to be back in production within two weeks.
Eight units of the Fire Brigade were there and the blaze was not put out until 3am this morning.
The news was no as good in Dublin, as up to 40 workers at the Ballymun Plaza Hotel were handed their notice this morning.
The hotel has been repossessed by the landlord, after the forfeiture of the lease.
Up to 35 members of the SIPTU trade union were due to hold a one-hour protest outside the hotel today to protest about a row over victimisation for trade union activity.
SIPTU has called on the hotel's management and Bennett Construction to 'examine every option' in order to save the jobs.
