Exploration company Providence Resources says it has made a gas discovery at its Galveston Island site in the US Gulf of Mexico.
Providence has three partners in the project, which is located 100km off the US costs. The company, which is listed in Dublin, has a 10.8% interest.
It says the results have exceeded initial expectations, and production will be 'fast-tracked' through nearby existing infrastructure.
