Enterprise Ireland is to invest €50m in developing businesses through the country's Institutes of Technology.
Enterprise, Trade & Employment Minister Micheál Martin made the announcement as he officially opened Synergy Centre at the institute of technology in Tallaght.
The centre provides office space and business support to start-up businesses at the institute.
The €50m will help fund the purchase of research equipment, provide more space for start-up companies and set up market-focused research groups in the institutes.
