40 jobs are to go in County Armagh as a manufacturing company sheds more than 10% of its workforce.
Seagoe Technologies, a world leader in the production of storage heaters, has asked for voluntary redundancies at its Portadown plant. The trade union UNITE has expressed the fear that there could be compulsory lay-offs.
The company is part of the Glen Dimplex Group, which has been rationalising its workforce in other parts of the UK.
Meanwhile Marks & Spencer is to create 40 jobs in Lisburn, County Antrim, as the company is to open a food-only outlet in the city centre.
