Gold price strikes record high above $900

The price of gold struck an all-time record of $914 an ounce in London today as the precious metal drew support from the weak US currency.

After striking the fresh peak, gold eased slightly to stand at  $902 on the London Bullion Market.

Traders invest their cash in gold as they search for a safe haven amid concerns over the US economy.

Earlier today, Hong Kong gold prices hit a record close above $900 an ounce. And on Friday, gold had broken through $900 an ounce for the first time during trading in New York.
