McCaughey leaving Kingspan Century

Gerry McCaughey has stepped down as CEO Kingspan Century to pursue private business interests.

McCaughey (45) co-founded Century Homes with his father Brian, brother Gary and Jim McBride in 1990. In 2005 the company was acquired by building materials company Kingspan for €100m. In 2006, the company name changed to Kingspan Century.

Over the next six months, McCaughey will be working as a consultant with a number of timber frame companies in the US housing market.

'I have had a wonderful 18 years developing Century Homes from a small company with just four staff to a world leader in the design, engineering manufacturing of modern methods of construction,' commented Mr McCaughey.

In 2003 McCaughey won the Ernst & Young Industry Entrepreneur of the Year Award. He was appointed by the Irish Government as the Chairman of the new Property Registration Authority of Ireland in 2006.
