Between 70 and 80 jobs are to be lost at the Dawn Meats at Ballaghaderreen in Co Roscommon in a restructuring program announced by the company this evening.
The Ballaghaderreen plant employs a staff of about 200 and the remainder of the workforce is to be transferred to the company's sister plant in Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo. Over 230 workers are employed there.
Dawn Meats announced that it is to invest €30m in developing the Ballyhaunis plant.
It did not give any timeframe for the lay-offs at the Ballaghaderreen plant.
