75% of Irish CEOs are less optimistic about the economy in the short to medium term than 12 months ago, according to a survey by property consultants CB Richard Ellis.
The tenth annual survey of the top 1,000 chief executives in the country also shows that 52% of those polled said they expected GDP growth of between 0% and 3% in 2008.
47% of the CEOs expect GDP growth of between 3% and 6% to be achieved, while no respondent expects growth of more than 6% next year.
Almost 80% think that euro zone interest rates will remain steady or decline slightly nest year, 21% believe that rates will rise slightly and only 1% feels there will be a significant increase.
