A spokesperson for Dublin Airport Authority has confirmed that charges in its short-term car park will increase by 50% from today.

There is now a €4.50 hourly charge for customers using the short-term car park.

The cost of using the long term car park is also going up by €1-a-day to €9.50.

Ryanair has hit out at the latest increase, and has called for competition in car parking to be introduced at the airport.

The airline saying that it is the second 50% rise in two years, meaning that the cost of short-term parking at Dublin Airport has doubled since 2005.

The low-fares carrier also accused the DAA of misleading the public by claiming that 60% of customers use the short-term car park for less than one hour.
