Waterford Wedgwood has appointed Anthony Jones to its Board of Directors and as Chief Financial Officer with immediate effect.
For the last five years, Anthony Jones has been CFO of Thorn, the multinational consumer electrical goods group. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and has an MBA from the London Business School.
Mr Jones replaces Patrick Dowling who retires in the New Year.
Waterford Wedgwood recently reported a pre-tax loss of €57.5m for the six months to the end of September, more than double the loss of €20.7m reported the same time last year.
The company said its sales for the six months were down 7.1% to €317.4m and it confirmed that 'significant' job cuts would be made in the coming months. Unions put the number at 500.
