Official figures show that industrial production in the three months to the end of September was 7.8% higher than in the previous three months.
The Central Statistics Office said production in September was up 4.3% on the same month last year.
The 'modern' sector - which includes high technology and chemical sectors - showed an annual increase of 5.8% for September, while growth in the 'traditional' sector was lower at 1.8%.
