The euro hit a record high against the dollar today as a result of US worries over the current credit crunch and unreported losses at financial firms.
The Single European Currency reached an all-time high of $1.4525, according to Reuters.
The fall came despite a positive report on US payrolls, with 166,000 jobs created in October - up from a revised 96,000 in September.
The current instability in financial markets has prompted the US interest rate futures market to say that there is an 84% chance the Fed will lower benchmark rates again in December.
