Icon lifts outlook after strong Q3

Clinical research group Icon has raised its forecast for its 2007 results after a strong third quarter.

It has reported net profits of $14.5m, up from $10.1m a year earlier as revenues grew by more than 38% to $166.9m.

For the first nine months of 2007, revenues are almost 38% ahead at $450.1m, with net profits up almost 50% to $26.9m.

Icon said it won $230m worth of new business in the quarter, which led it to raise its revenue estimate for the full year to $615-625m.

Icon provides services to pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical devices companies.
