Nick Treble has been appointed chief risk officer for the AIB Group and member of the AIB executive committee.
Mr Treble, who is currently managing director of AIB Global Treasury, will assume the position when Shom Bhattacharya retires at the end of the year.
The 48-year-old joined AIB in 1982 as a trainee dealer in Allied Irish Investment Bank, London.
He took up his current role as MD in Dublin in 2001.
