Ryanair taking France to court

Ryanair - An 'obvious injustice'
Ryanair - An 'obvious injustice'

Ryanair is taking France to the European Court of Human Rights to challenge a ruling that denied employees based in Marseille the right to rely on Irish labour law.

The airline is arguing that the French Supreme Court judgment was wrong to force workers to use French law in dealings with the company.

Ryanair says that staff who work on Irish registered aircraft and under Irish contracts should be allowed negotiate under the terms of this country’s regulations.

A statement released by the company claims that: 'The French Supreme Court, which had earlier advised the French government on the legality of the decree, was also the same body that rejected Ryanair's request to refer this matter to the European Court of Justice and then ruled that the decree was lawful.'

The company has said it is confident the ECHR will correct what it termed an 'obvious injustice'.
