Latest figures show Irish pension funds have fallen in value by 3.5% in the last quarter as a result of significant falls in shares over recent months.
Since the beginning of the year funds have gained 1.4% in value and are up 7.8% in the past year.
The figures were proved by Hewitt Associates and cover the period to the end of September.
