Donegal Creameries has reported pre-tax profits of €4.5m for the first half off the year, an increase of almost 44% on the same period last year. Revenue was 6.6% higher at just over €61m, helped by growth in the dairy and agri-business divisions.
Earnings per share increased by 14.4% to 27.8 cent, while an 8% higher interim dividend of 6.5 cent will be paid.
Turnover in Donegal Creameries' dairy business was up 16% to €27.5m, lifted by an upturn in world dairy prices and new products.
Agri-business turnover rose 14.7% to €32.2m. The company said it was making progress in its seed potato business.
Donegal said its new property division was performing ahead of target, and the value of its assets had increased by €6m since the end of last year.
