Newcourt's first-half profits doubled

Dublin-listed company Newcourt, which is involved in areas such as security, recruitment and student accommodation, has reported pre-tax profits of €5.2m for the first half of this year. This is more than double the figure for the same period last year and was helped by acquisitions.

Total revenue rose by 45% to €65.8m, while adjusted earnings per share also doubled to 7.56 cent.

The company said it was optimistic that its strong performance would continue for the rest of the year.

Profits in Newcourt's support services and student accommodation businesses surged by 139%, while recruitment and aviation profits were up 42%.
