British Airways said today its August passenger traffic was up 5.3% on the same month last year when a foiled bomb plot caused chaos at UK airports and mass cancellations.
'As expected, August traffic was up significantly on last year, reflecting the weak base that was caused by 1,280 cancellations in the week of August 10-17,' BA said today.
Premium first and business class traffic was hit particularly hard last year as the tickets allow greater flexibility, and BA said premium traffic was up 13.6%.
Non-premium traffic was up 4.1%.
