CRH buys out Dutch materials company

CRH has bought the remaining chunk of the materials division of Dutch group Cementbouw which it does not already own.

In a statement to the Irish Stock Exchange, CRH, said it has acquired the remaining 55% of Cementbouw BV not already owned by CRH.

It said its investment in the business now amounts to around €184m.

It is a major player in cement, fly-ash and aggregates and is one of the leading readymixed concrete producers in the Netherlands.

The Company's Binding Agents & Logistics division is a major player in the Dutch cement trading and distribution market, and is also one of the leading suppliers of fly-ash in the Netherlands.

The Ready Mix division operates a network of 24 well-located readymixed concrete plants primarily in the more densely populated western regions of the Netherlands.

Cementbouw's existing management team will continue to run the business which will become a new reporting and development platform within CRH's Europe Materials Division.

Cementbouw reported EBITDA of €26.5m on sales of €213m in 2006.

CRH shares were trading down 34 cent at €31.30 at lunchtime in Dublin.
