A Co Down dairy company is investing more than £6m in a major expansion of its processing activities to serve expanding overseas markets, in a move that will secure nearly 170 jobs.
LE Prichitt - a subsidiary of the Lakeland Dairies Co-operative - plans to build its sales with the marketing of UHT (ultra heat treated) products, for which there is a growing demand in the food service and retail sectors in Britain, Europe and further afield in the Far and Middle East and Asia.
The £6.6m investment has been supported with nearly £1m by development agency Invest Northern Ireland.
The plant in Newtownards employs 168 people, and this investment will secure these position and create up to 20 new jobs.
