Louth-based whiskey distiller Cooley has reported pre-tax profits of €1.7m for last year, up from €1.3m in 2005, as sales grew by 27% to €11.7m.
The company said the rate of growth was slowing in 2007, but chairman John Teeling said whiskey sales were again growing all over the world after 'generations of decline'.
He said this was particularly true in emerging economies, and Cooley was selling in South America and had made inroads into China and Russia.
The company is adding to its marketing staff, and to its advertising and promotion budgets in order to take advantage of what it sees as positive trends.
