A new Sheraton Hotel in Athlone is to due to open in April next year, creating 250 jobs.
The 12-storey hotel is part of the Athlone Town Centre development. It will have 167 bedrooms.
The development is expected to generate 1,200 jobs
The news comes following the developers' signing of a franchise agreement with Starwood Hotels & Resorts, which owns the Sheraton brand.
Starwood operates two other hotels in Ireland: the Westin in Dublin and the Sheraton Fota Island in Cork.
