Enterprise, Trade & Employment Minister Micheál Martin has announced a public consultation before implementing parts of new legislation rules designed to protect consumers.

The process refers to Sections 48 and 49 of the Consumer Protection Act 2007, which would ban companies from levying credit card surcharges on consumers.

In a statement, the department said the Minister was seeking  the views of the public, payment card holders, retailers and other interested parties by September 7.
