EasyJet to add flights from Belfast

Budget airline EasyJet plans to introduce four new European routes from Belfast International Airport to Barcelona, Gdansk, Prague and Venice.

The new routes will increase the number of EasyJet destinations on offer from Belfast to 24. The airline will base an additional plane at Belfast, bringing the number of aircraft there to six.

EasyJet says it expects to carry over 140,000 passengers on these routes in the first 12 months. It has also increased frequencies on both its Krakow and Paris services from Belfast.

The Gdansk route starts on October 30, Prague and Venice begin on November 1 and the Barcelona service starts on November 3.

EasyJet has also announced a new baggage policy that will charge passengers £2 for every bag put in the plane's hold.

This replaces the previous policy where the first bag was free but subsequent bags were charged at £5 per item. EasyJet will still allow carry-on bags, subject to limits.
