The Fyffes spin-off company, Total Produce, has bought 92% of health foods distributor - Wholefoods Wholesale.
Trade industry sources say the acquisition probably cost Total Produce around €5m.
The Dublin-based health food company had €18m sales last year.
In a statement to the Irish Stock Exchange Total Produce said it welcomes the opportunity to become involved in the health food sector.
Total Produce said it expects the acquisition to be 'earnings enhancing' from the date of completion.
