Pizza delivery firm tops 2006 profits

Domino's Pizza has reported that sales rose nearly 15% year-on-year in the first six months of 2007, with profits up 35% at £8.3m.

E-commerce sales rose 42.1% to  £13.6m, partly due to a television sponsorship deal with The Simpsons on Sky One, and helped along by the recent poor weather which kept people indoors.

In the six months the group launched online ordering in Ireland and said it was pleased with progress, despite a 'slow start'.

Out of the group's 470 stores, 43 are in Ireland, with 32 of these located in the South.

The first outlet in Ireland opened in 1991 and it says it is the leading player here in the pizza delivery market.
