Bmi to purchase ten new aircraft

The board of airline bmi has approved the development of new routes from London's Heathrow Airport and the purchase of ten additional aircraft.

The company will but five more Airbus A330s and another five Airbus A321s, the latter as part of the acquisition of British Mediterranean Airways (BMED).

This will enable the firm to take on new mid-haul and long-haul routes from the UK's largest airport.

Bmi, which first entered the Irish marketplace in 1989, operates up to seven return flights daily on the Dublin-Heathrow route.
