It has been confirmed to the Irish stock exchange this evening that Property tycoon, Liam Carroll, was last week's buyer of Greencore shares.
Mr Carroll last week upped his stake in the food group from 21.7% to 29.5%, just short of the 30% that would automatically trigger a takeover bid.
Carroll bought his initial 21% share from investor Dermot Desmond last summer for €170m.
Now it is thought he'll launch a takeover bid for the food group to get his hands on its 900 acres of surplus property.
Greencore itself has €1 billion mixed use plans for its former Irish Sugar sites at Carlow and Mallow.
