Hugh Friel - 'Solid' start to 2007
Hugh Friel - 'Solid' start to 2007

The chief executive of food group Kerry has said it is confident that its financial results for 2007 will be in line with market expectations, despite the recent weakness in the US dollar.

Hugh Friel told Kerry's AGM in Tralee that there had been a 'solid' overall performance in the first four months of this year.

Mr Friel said Kerry's restructuring programme, which started last year, was now 'well advanced'.

He also said its ingredients, flavours and bio-science programmes were benefiting from growing demand for enhanced nutritional food and drink products. Mr Friel added that increased demand for 'food-to-go' in Ireland and UK was providing growth opportunities for its consumer foods businesses.

Kerry shares closed up 43 cent at €22.18 in Dublin this evening.
