The Financial Regulator has approved the award of a banking licence to Postbank, the banking joint venture between An Post and Dutch-Belgian bank Fortis.
Postbank expects to formally receive its banking licence within a fortnight, paving the way for a launch 'within weeks'. The bank hopes to begin trading as early as next month.
