Workers at Shannon airport have voted overwhelmingly to accept a revised rationalisation plan aimed at seeking 200 redundancies and savings of up to €10m.
The results of a ballot of workers showed there was a 92% turnout for the ballot and 82% have voted in favour of accepting the deal.
It is understood applications for voluntary severance will begin soon, but could take up to five weeks.
The first version of the plan, which offered workers a €10,000 lump sum, ten weeks' pay for every year of service, and enhanced pensions was initially overwhelmingly rejected.
However, the revised package brokered with the assistance of the Labour Relations Commission was put to workers after SIPTU recommended its acceptance.
The revised plan includes improved provisions for redundancy and for the productivity of workers who remain at the airport.
