Bank of Scotland Ireland says it will create over 300 new jobs this year, with over half in business banking. Most of the jobs will be based in Dublin.
Halifax, the bank's retail banking business, expects to create over 120 jobs, and have 41 branches by the end of this year.
The bank said it will also be recruiting in Belfast, Cork, Galway, Kilkenny, Limerick, Sligo, Waterford and Wexford, with new jobs in its customer call centre in Dundalk and in support functions across the bank.
These 300 additional jobs will bring the total employed by the bank to 1700 by the end of 2007.
