Royal Mail executive quits after one year

The head of the Royal Mail's letters division in Britain is leaving the group after a year in the job, the company confirmed today.

Ian Griffiths joined the postal giant from GKN Automotive on a salary of £500,000 in February of last year.

Adam Crozier, group chief executive, is taking over the running of the letters business until it is decided how to resource the role.

Royal Mail declined to comment on a report in the Times that Mr Griffiths had walked out in a dispute over cost cuts.
